Dry stone walling is a traditional craft that has been practised for over five thousand years
in Britain. Dry stone walls dating back hundreds of years are a common sight in the countryside particularly
in the hills of Wales.
Dry stone walling is durable, natural, ecologically sound and the perfect medium for blending
in with the surrounding landscape.
Martyn Jones started dry stone walling as a hobby which soon turned into a passion. After
having undertaken much training and passing many courses including his Professional Member of the Dry Stone
Walling Association qualification, he decided to become a professional Dry Stone Waller.
Based near Llangadog between Llandeilo and Llandovery, Martyn works not only locally in the
Carmarthen area but over the whole of South Wales including Pembrokeshire, Carmartheshire, Swansea, Cardiff,
the Welsh Valleys and Gwent.
He has worked on many dozens of projects from small private jobs to large council contracts.
He cares deeply about his work and realises that the walls he builds now will become part of the heritage
of our landscape and will still be there in hundreds of years time.
